IMG_20151218_224814 Esme Clarke, LPNABC Secretary

Esme Clarke applied for the Secretary position in 2015 wanting to join the association because she wanted to contribute to her profession through the LPNABC.  We had just appointed Meg Coyle, who has since asked to step down for personal reasons.

LPNABC was so excited to find Esme still was very interested in joining our team.  We have met a few times and I am so impressed with her energy, her enthusiasm and expertise pertaining to LPN professional practice.  LPNABC would like to welcome Esme to our team.    Anita Dickson, LPNABC President

Interesting Facts about Esme:

I obtained my LPN license in 2005 as a bridge in from working as a care aide. I have enjoyed my career in Seniors’ Residential Care Nurse, my preference of demographic being dementia, ambulatory dementia and behavioural and mental health.

I’ve come from a background of habitual volunteering, ingrained in me by my parents, from the age of 3 when I accompanied my mother on her volunteer weekends at the Vancouver general hospital tuck shop, After surviving a serious car accident in the 80s I left the 2 yr RN programme I was attending in Vancouver after the 1st year and in those days before certification. Became mandatory I moved to Ontario and worked in community rehab health and mental health through the Toronto Medical Registry as a community service worker, nurse aid and practical nurse until I followed the lure of an airline career where I gained instructing experience.

When the fall of the airline prompted a career switch in 2002 I returned to healthcare.  Certificates were now required, therefore I obtaining my RCA followed closely by my LPN in 2005 and my certified Foot care Nurse Advanced Level II designation also in 2005.

Throughout my life I’ve always been an active volunteer and learner with an interest in teaching others and recently discovered my passion as a clinical instructor for health care aids in 2015 and now work as Instructor of the HCA program with CDI College as well as continue working in Residential care part time. I am pleased to join the LPNABC in this active role during this dynamic and encouraging time for LPNs across the province.
