Lucy Hotchkiss Region 1: Vancouver Coastal
Hello fellow LPNS, my name is Lucy Hotchkiss and I am the regional LPNABC representative for Vancouver Coastal region. I came to nursing later in life at the age of 40 and have been practicing for four years now. My background is in Microbiology and Counselling, an odd mix perhaps, but lends itself well to nursing. I started my nursing career at UBC on the Transitional Care Unit, I was then fortunate enough to be hired as one of the first group of LPNs on the acute medicine unit of VGH, and now I work as a home care nurse in the downtown Eastside of Vancouver. I have loved all my nursing jobs and have been lucky enough to retain friends from each one. I really enjoy community nursing, I feel like I can really make a difference to my clients lives, I can be more deeply involved with them and assist in them achieving their health care goals. I have always taken a holistic approach to my nursing practice and this job really allows me to emphasize that. I am also a self identified wound care junkie and am thrilled at the opportunities community nursing provides me in this area.
I am a single parent by choice to a spectacular 15 year old young man, our household also includes two hilarious little dogs that we love dearly. My hobbies include cooking, gardening, yoga and studying Ayurveda.
I look forward to meeting you and serving in this role.
Lucy

Donna Close Region 4: Interior
Hello, Thank-you for the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Donna Close and I work as an LPN within Interior Health.
I’ve enjoyed working at a rural hospital in Ashcroft, BC for the past eight years, mainly in the Extended Care part of the facility.
As a small community hospital we’ve faced physician and staffing shortages and rely on the creative and critical thinking skills of RNs and LPNs, and also Care Aides.
On a personal note… I’m the busy mother of two active boys, a seven year old and a seven month old!
Kind regards,
Donna
Kathleen Westlin Region 4: Interior
I am passionate about public service and I look forward to continuing this as an LPN and LPNABC Regional Representative. I am a single mother of three adventurous boys whom push me to excel to my potential every day. I have a BSc (Hons) from the University of Calgary and a BA from the University of Alberta and graduated from Okanagan College in 2012 at the top of my class with the Excellence in Practical Nursing Scholarship. I believe in education, knowledge and experiencing life! The more I know the better LPN I can be and the more I can share and learn with all my colleagues.
In 2010 I retired from Canada Border Services as a frontline Border Services Officer and Export Control Specialist. I have also worked as an Archaeologist and Economic Development Officer and currently volunteer my nursing services at summer camps for children and am the registrar at Mackenzie Camp. I am always looking for professional development opportunities and have recently completed OFA 1, BCCDC’S Immunization, Mental Health First Aid and Trauma Nursing from MacEwan University. I look forward to serving the LPN community and sharing the value that LPN’s have in Health Care.
Cheers,
Kate Westlin
