Ebola Virus Preparedness
Although the potential risk of an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in British Columbia is still considered to be very low, the Ministry of Health and the Office of the Provincial Health Officer are taking the preparedness concerns raised by nurses and others very seriously. The Ministry has set up a Task Force with public health officials, infectious disease experts and others, to ensure that all health providers are protected and knowledgeable about the proper procedures and protocols for managing should any cases of Ebola be verified in British Columbia.
In addition, the Ministry and the Provincial Health Officer have established regular weekly teleconferences with health partners to share information and answer questions regarding the current Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) situation in British Columbia. The LPNABC is part of these discussions, and will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure Licensed Practical Nurses and all frontline healthcare workers are able to receive the most up-to-date information on Ebola as it becomes available.
